Physical Activity in Preparation For Childbirth

Before it was very normal for a pregnant woman to be given the advice to "rest and relax" all the time, however nowadays, we realized that this should not be that way. (unless of course, you have a risky pregnancy).

Physical activity before childbirth is very important for the mother's and baby's bodies. For mom, it is important, since she improves her cardiovascular and muscular condition, corrects posture and avoids excessive weight gain. Meanwhile, it is important for the baby because it helps the placenta oxygen.

There are many benefits of exercising while pregnant:

  • Improves your physical condition (it is likely that after labour, you will continue to exercise)
  • Helps labour go a little easier
  • Improve your psychological well-being
  • Reduces anxiety
  • Avoid typical back pain

Now, you are not going to go out and play rugby. We recommend doing low-impact activities such as; Yoga, Pilates, aquatic gymnastics or small exercises at home, such as a stationary bike among others

Good abdominal muscles can help push more easily in vaginal deliveries.

Maintaining this physical activity after childbirth is desirable to lose weight and tone up.
